Real Racing 2 to support Dual-Screen Gaming with AirPlay!

Stream games from iPad/iPhone to your AppleTV via Wifi on iOS 5

Great news to all gamers! Firemint, the creator of Real Racing 2 will be supporting AirPlay over Wifi with iOS 5. Meaning you will be able to play your game on your iPad, but view the screen on your HDTV, not your iPad/iPhone! What makes it even better is that Real Racing will not just mirror the output from iPad to HDTV, but make full use of the dual screen that you have.  It will be similar to the picture on top, having the racing on your HDTV, but supporting information like maps, laps and timing on your iPad/iPhone screen.

Apple marching into the gaming industry, Strong.

Pretty cool right? I mean it is awesome! It kinda of reminds me of Nintendo’s DS, which have 2 screen showing supporting information. But imagine this on your HDTV and iPad. Actually now, you are already able to play this dual screen game, but you will need to hook up your iPad with HDMI cable to your TV to do it. But when iOS 5 comes, you can stream it via wifi to your Apple TV.

Firemint’s Real Racing 2 HD with AirPlay is a game-changer

Relish Real Racing 2 HD’s superb visuals as they’re streamed effortlessly to your big screen TV. Grip your iPad 2 and steer with unerring precision and the freedom of wireless play. Stay closer than ever to the track with real-time racing telemetry, displayed directly on your iPad’s screen.

Honestly. I think consoles like Sony PS3, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will now have a new challenger in the market. I can’t believe that our multi-functional iPad, which I use to check emails and surf web on the go, can be my console when I reach home!

McTiVia can sync your display from Macbook to any HDTV, allowing you to surf the web, watch movie or even play games on your large TV screen, but still control via your Macbook. It is a very cool technology because you no longer need to hook up your Mac to your HDTV anymore, it will stream wireless via Wifi!

Check out the demo video:

Pretty cool right?

Below is the list of features that McTiVia can do for you:

  • Works as Wireless Access Point
  • Watch Movie or your Home Video on your HDTV in your living room, without hook up cables from your computer. Do note that even the audio will come from your TV and not your Mac!
  • Play PC games on your TV via Computer
  • Surf Web, YouTube or even show pictures from your PC/Mac on the big screen TV wirelessly
  • Use iPhone or Android Phone to control your Mac/PC

My Thoughts

I think it is one of the coolest gadget you can buy for your living room, because I always do my web surfing in my living room while watching TV. Sometimes I will see something so interesting that I would want to show my family. I can only show them via my Macbook Pro Screen, but imagine if I can show them on the 42″ TV I have in my living room will be amazing!

Oh ya, another time will be FaceTime on Mac! Imagine Wireless displaying your FaceTime chat with your loves ones who are away in other countries, and the ability to show it on large screen. Pretty cool too.

McTiVia will be coming to Singapore by late April or May, please Stay Tuned with us and we will definitely update the pricing and other details once we get it!

3G iPad battery life 1.5hours less than iPad on Wifi

Before the launch of iPad 3G, many have comment that iPad’s battery life is extremely good, better than promised by Apple. Thus more people are wondering if iPad 3G’s battery will last as well, as we all know 3G sucks battery life off every device in the world.

iLounge have done some prelimiary tests on the battery life of iPad Wifi and iPad 3G. Refreshing/Reloading the page with either Wifi on or 3G on. Seems like the results are reasonably close to what Apple have promised to be 10hours on Wifi, 9 hours on 3G:

Our prior iPad with Wi-Fi battery tests found that Apple was generally at least a little conservative in its estimates; for instance, we put the Wi-Fi model through a web torture test with repeated 1-minute refreshes of a large, completely loaded page for 10 hours and 21 minutes on 50% brightness over 802.11n. Repeating the exact same test on the Wi-Fi + 3G model with 3G turned on and Wi-Fi turned off, the iPad achieved 8 hours and 38 minutes of continuous reloading and displaying — 22 minutes shy of Apple’s estimate.

Note that in normal surfing, pages are not really refresh every 1 minute or so, so the results in real life surfing will be different, but we will have a rough gauge of the battery life. It is relatively impressive to get close to 9 hours of 3G surfing!
