iPhone 4S Launch Day in Singapore [Video]

Tech65 team have done a great job to cover the launch day of iPhone 4S in Singapore! They went to all 3 carriers’ location to check out what are M1, Starhub and SingTel doing for their iPhone 4S Launch.

Great planning from SingTel

From the video, it seems that SingTel have done a better overall job, not only ensure that all the customers that came will receive their iPhone 4S, and none of the customers have to queue. All of the customers for SingTel are allocated a time slot, like 12am-2am, 2am-4am. So on where they can come and hang around at the launch area at Suntec.

iPhone 4 Launch

I was there in MBS for SingTel iPhone 4 launch, and they had the same approach, I have to say I enjoyed it alot, especially when you know M1 and Starhub customers are queuing in such a warm singapore weather. Although SingTel have the best planning, their iPhone 4S price and plan are the most expensive compared to M1 and Starhub

Check out Tech65’s iPhone 4S video Coverage:

M1 vs Starhub vs SingTel Apple iPhone 4S Price Plan Comparison Chart

28th October iPhone 4S Launch in Singapore

Singapore will be launching iPhone 4S on 28th October 2011, and all of our carriers in Singapore have already release their price plan and invited customers to pre-order them.

For those who are still considering which carrier to go to and how much iPhone 4S will cost and how much will you be paying in the total 24 months contract. You can check out the charts that I have created to comparison between price plans among the Telecos.

Entry Level Price Plan for M1, Starhub and SingTel:

Please note that Blue is the Most Expensive Plan and Yellow is the cheapest you can pay for iPhone 4S and 24months contract.

For the Entry Level Price Plan, you can get iPhone 4S for all models cheapest and SingTel is the most expensive one. You will be paying around $100 in total, but of course for SingTel you will be getting 50 SMS more per month. Although I don’t think people use as much SMS nowadays due to apps like Whatsapp and iMessage from Apple.

Mid-Range Price Plan:

Once again, M1 is still the cheapest and SingTel is still most expensive.  In the mid-range plan, both M1 and Starhub will be giving their customers 300 minutes of outgoing calls, whereas SingTel is giving only 200 minutes.

High Range Price Plan:

For High Range Plan, M1 is still the cheapest and SingTel is still the most expensive 24 months contract plus iPhone 4S. In the high range plan, both M1 and Starhub are giving customers 700 minutes of outgoing calls, whereas SingTel is only giving 500 minutes.

Extreme Range Price Plan:

In the Extreme Plan, once again, M1 is still the cheapest where as Starhub is most expensive. In this range of plans, M1 is giving Unlimited outgoing calls to their customers, whereas SingTel and Starhub will be giving 2000 minutes. Unlimited data usage for both M1 and Starhub, and SingTel gives their customers 30GB of data usage.

Conclusion

M1 is really one of the cheapest and most generous in Talktime and Data usage, whereas Starhub is somewhere in the middle and SingTel is the most expensive in overall 24 months contract plus iPhone 4S. This comparsion chart did not include some value added services which different teleco provides, and also the reliability of the network.

Hope this comparisons will help you guys to decide which Teleco to go to and which Plan to select!

M1, SingTel and Starhub iPad 2 Plan Comparison

M1, SingTel and Starhub now carry iPad 2!

Finally all 3 Teleco are having their very own iPad 2 Plan! So how different or similar are the plans between the 3 companies?

To my surprise, SingTel this time round is having one of the most affordable plans among them. Although both Starhub and M1 are providing unlimited data bundle, whereas SingTel only provides 50GB of Data. But honestly, I doubt anyone can finish up 50Gb in a month, unless you are downloading constantly  on your iPad, or you are using the Mobile Broadband as your main home network.

Check out the chart below and you will find out that all 3 carriers’ iPad 2for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB are priced the same at $399,$499 and $599. So there ain’t much to compare other than the monthly subscription cost and Data Bundle.

So do check out M1, SingTel or Starhub if you wish to purchase your iPad 2 from Teleco and enjoy the discounted price. Else you can also buy iPad 2 directly from Apple through its Apple Store.

iPhone 4 vs EVO 4G vs Droid X SPEED Test!

We all know AT&T slow and drop calls, because iPhone users are complaining non-stop, but is AT&T really slow? I don’t know as I’m living in Singapore, we are lucky that Singapore is a small country and we have relatively standard network regardless it is Singtel, M1 or Starhub. But Skattertech did a test with iPhone 4, EVO 4G, and Droid X on 3 carriers which are AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.

So who is faster?

Speed Test: HTC EVO 4G vs. Apple iPhone 4 vs. Motorola Droid X from Sahas Katta on Vimeo.

The Result is shockingly different from most will thought of right? They will expect either Droid X or EVO 4G to win the SPEED test, but in the end, it was iPhone 4 on AT&T that beat both the phones. Although AT&T has been complaint a lot on drop calls and slow network, but it actually win the test by a huge margin. [Skattertech]

MicroSim Cards in Singapore now!

MicroSim Cards have reached the island of Singapore, but what is interesting is that Singapore is selling MicroSim Cards even before any device in Singapore is actually using it. Ok, there are a number of iPads which Singaporean have buy from US or even countries like Australia, Japan or even UK after the international launch.

iPad will only reach Singapore around July 2010, but M1 and Starhub have already started selling MicroSim Cards last saturday and Singtel is joining them tomorrow!

This is a good news as there are many who actually damaged their Sim Card while trying to trim them to MicroSim Card size, so which our Telecos selling their early, we can see lesser damaged Sim Cards and more MicroSim Cards Sales. Although we have also seen product that help you cut your Sim Card into MicroSim Card Size! [dk]
