International iPhone 4 Launch on 30th July, Together with White iPhone 4!

Apple held their iPhone 4 Press Event on 16th July, confirmed that iPhone 4 Death Grip is real. There won’t software fix to death grip anytime soon as it is a physics issue. Together with the press event, Steve Jobs also announced that iPhone 4’s International Launch will be on 30th July! At last we have a confirmed date for us to wait! Not only iPhone 4 will be launch internationally, White iPhone 4 will also be release on end of July, which should be around 30th July too. So are we seeing White iPhone 4 together with the international launch in Singapore?

Apple released 16 July iPhone 4 Press Conference Video

Apple have released their 16 July iPhone 4 Press Conference Video to the web and public! Not only that they have released video of it, they also launched new pages of iPhone 4’s Antenna and the Design and Lab Test.

Apple is very honest to the users, saying that iPhone 4’s Antenna is a physical issue and cannot be solve by Software updates, but they also let everyone know that this issue is not iPhone 4 only issue. This is a issue for lots of smartphone out in the market, not only smartphone, phone with antennas.

Apple giving out Free Case

To solve this antenna issue that got out of hand, Apple have decided to give out iPhone 4 Bumper Case/3rd Party Case to all iPhone 4 users, including those who have already bought one(they will be given full refund). This is a good news to everyone, as I am sure most iPhone users have case or at least wants to buy a case to protect their iPhone.

Apple iPhone 4 Antenna

Apple’s iPhone 4 Antenna Page, shown us how this Antenna Death Grip happens to other smartphone like BlackBerry Bold, HTC Droid Eris, Samsung Omnia II and iPhone 3GS!

Although iPhone 4’s Antenna Issue can be most easily seen due the external antenna’s design, many iPhone 4 owners report better call quality and lesser drop calls compare to iPhone 3GS.

Apple’s Antenna Design and Test Labs

Apple also show to the world their state-of-the-art facilities for their Antenna design and test labs. They looks really complex and really impressive. Honestly it reminds me of Professor X’s Cerebro.

Quite similar right? I can say that Apple’s Test Lab really looks very impressive, and hope that they will do a better job on their iPhone 5 and hopefully solve the Antenna Issue, which no Smartphone Manufacturer have solve.

iOS 4.0.1 is out! With new Reception Formula!

Apple released iOS 4.0.1 to better represent the reception issues. According to Apple’s PR iPhone’s Reception Bar Formula is wrong, thus they are showing more bars of reception than it actually have! With the new update from iOS 4.0.1, you will realize that your reception at home or in office will be much lesser than you had previously(this is what I felt).

Look at the Reception bars, it is really slightly bigger and longer compare to the previous version. I don’t think it helps at all for showing bigger bars, but maybe it is a mental thingy that I don’t understand. But one thing that I realized after the update is that my iPhone 3G felt faster and less laggy after the update! This I can’t confirm yet as I have just updated my iPhone 3G only 2 hours ago, but definitely feel faster!

I will post a update if I can confirm that this update actually makes iPhone 3G running iOS 4 faster.

The quality is quite ok, not prefect, we can see that he is breaking out later in the video, but come on, video chatting on a plane is awesome!

Earns close to $1,400 in a Day with iAds

App Developer Jason Ting reviewed his earning on iAds from the first day of sales of his App LED light for iPhone 4 Free! This is one of the most impressive CPM we have ever seen, almost $150, and with 9300 impressions he is able to earn up to $1.4k! Such a great news to developer as it will definitely be a good sum of income for them, especially those who are developing apps for free.

Hopefully this good CPM will continue, and I’m sure more and more developers will be developing for iPhone, even for free with iAds as their main revenue stream.

iPhone 4 Drop Test with Apple’s Bumper Case

Bumper Case

Apple Bumper Cases indeed can prevent the Antenna Reception Issue that iPhone 4 is having on some of the iPhone 4. But is the bumper case going to protect iPhone 4 from drops at waist level? iFixYouri did drop test for iPhone 4 again, and results shows that Apple’s Bumper Case did not give any much protection to iPhone 4.

Check out their drop test video:

Note that they dropped the iPhone 4 on a concrete flooring, and it lasted 3 drops. Do take note the last drop of iPhone 4 appears to be facing down, so increasing the chances of breaking the screen. All this drops ain’t scientific tests, so nothing much can be concluded, just be careful and try not to drop your iPhone, actually it is the same for any other phones with large screens.
