iPhone 4 Video & Photo Quality Demo in Prague

A reader from from Czech Republic has allowed a first hand look at photo and video quality of Apple’s latest creation iPhone 4. The photos are taken by iPhone 4 with tis 5 Megapixel camera and they seems impressive although all the photos are outdoor photos.

The user, Swenak, said that iPhone 4 is fast and responsive, the thinner design fit better in pocket. He also mention that the glass front and back prevent scratches, though they feel that the stainless steel rim will become scuffer up over time. The device receive GPS signal in a “surprisingly quick” fashion and obtain a lock “almost immediately”!

The battery life is also fairly impressive, after 1 hour of heavy usage like playing games, surfing web, watching video on YouTube and accessing Google Map, the battery only dropped 10 percent.

iMovie for iPhone 4 Details Updates

We have heard from Steve Jobs that iMovie will be coming to iPhone 4, we also know that it will be one of the most powerful video editor on mobile device. iMovie can edit, trim, add still images into a iMovie Project, add themes and transitions, titles, music and more just on iPhone 4. Not only that, it can also export the video out with different quality up to 720p HD quality video.

But we have some questions we will like to know which are not answer in the keynote:

Is iMovie going to be available for iPhone 3GS? Can iPad run iMovie? Can iMovie for iPhone Projects be exported to iMovie on Mac so we can continue working on the video?

TidBITS have the answer for us:

  • iMovie for iPhone will require the iPhone 4, and will not be available for the iPhone 3GS. Handling video and creating real-time transitions needs the power of the iPhone 4’s A4 processor.
  • Although the iPad runs the A4 processor, the app won’t run on that device. I suspect the app is tailored to the iPhone 4’s higher-density screen, and therefore wouldn’t work within the iPad’s pixel-doubled compatibility mode. (I’d be very surprised if an iMovie for iPad version doesn’t appear at some point, possibly with the release of iOS 4 for the iPad in a few months.)
  • Projects edited on the iPhone cannot “currently” be transferred to iMovie on the Mac for further editing; projects stay on the phone. (The edited movies can be exported or synced to iTunes, however.)
  • Video clips can be recorded directly within iMovie for iPhone or come from the Camera Roll (clips previously shot using the phone’s built-in camera). Based on how the Camera Roll works, I suspect it may also be possible to work with clips you’ve shot elsewhere by emailing them from your computer to the iPhone, then saving the attachment to the Camera Roll. The clips would need to be properly formatted as H.264 videos (and without having the software or an iPhone 4 to test, I don’t know which specifications that entails).
  • iMovie for iPhone is scheduled to ship 24 June 2010 to coincide with the launch of the iPhone 4.

Without a doubt, iPhone 4 will be costing us $4.99 as announced, we think overall it will be a cool app to have, as you can edit your video, add some themes or transition before uploading to Youtube!

How Sharp is iPhone 4 Screen? [Video]

This is just how sharp iPhone 4 Screen is! Robert Scoble took this above picture with his Canon 5D mark II, click on the image to see how sharp the screen really is!

It is just so amazing that iPhone 4’s 960 X 640 Screen is so clean and sharp. Check out the video below on HD mode to enjoy the hight quality screen. We can’t wait to get on hold of it and appreciate it with our hands… and eyes! [Scoblezier]

iPhone 4 Bumper Photos

iPhone 4 Bumper Case is really not a Case to be exact, it is a…. bumper? It is nothing we have seen before to be honest, it looks like a rubber tubbing wrapping around the stainless steel on iPhone 4.  It does not cover the front nor the back, but to be honest you don’t need to protect the screen. The glass for both front and back are very scratch resistant and quite durable, but they can’t hold a 3.5 feet drop though.

We are not exactly sure if the bumper can protect your iPhone 4 from a 3 feet drop, and not shattered your iPhone 4. But it seems that it can handle a slight drop, and it is quite a eye-candy! [MacRumors]

iPhone 4 Screen Strong, but still Shattered upon drop

Apple claimed that iPhone 4’s aluminosilcate glass for front and back are “chemically strengthened to be 30 times harder than plastic, more scratch resistant and durable than ever”. Yes, it might be harder and more durable, but glass is still glass afterall? We have all seen video on how scratch resistant iPhone 3GS screen is, so we ain’t worry if we put keys and coins together with our iPhones when we go out, but what normally kill the screen is a drop.

iFixYouri tried proving to us that no matter how strong a glass screen is, its natural behavior still remain the same, shatter! They drop iPhone 4 from a 3 and a half feet above ground level, which is around the height where most people will drop that phones. iPhone 4’s Screen gave way on the 3rd attempt, and the result is what you have seen above, shattered.

What worry us is that now iPhone 4 is both glass front and back, the possibility of shattering any of the glass screen is doubled, so iPhone 4 users, please take care of your iPhone and try not to drop them? Do note that the test is conduct with iPhone 4, before they have been launch, thus we ain’t sure how iFixYouri got hold of one of them, and we are not sure if the screen they test with is going to be the “REAL” iPhone 4 screen. But I’m sure someone will try doing the test once iPhone 4 is launch in US by June 24! [iFixYouri]

iMovie for iPhone 4

Most Mac Users will be very familiar with the Mac Application, iMovie, it is simple to use movie creator program which comes together with iLife(Which is came free with any Mac purchase). iMovie can be one of the best Home Movie Creator Program you can find in the Market, with simple effects, trim, speed up and many other functions that can easily apply to your home video.

Now you can film, edit, process your HD Home Video just from your iPhone 4! It is announced together with Apple iPhone 4 during WWDC on Monday that iMovie is coming to iPhone 4! Although it come with a cost of $4.99, but I think it will be totally worth it as the native trim and cut function are abit too limited if you wish to edit your home video.

Editing is done in a timeline view and new clips and photos can be added anywhere in the timeline. Not only that, music from the iPod library can be added, geolocation information can be used as they are recorded by the camera. Movies can be exported at 360p, 540p, or 720p.

iMovie haven’t been released by Apple, but it will be coming soon, should be release together with Apple iPhone 4, although we are not sure if they will support previous version of iPhone like iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G.

iWork Suit is coming to iPhone?

Apple rarely make mistake, but it seems like they are either careless this time or they just want to leak it out to everyone. In one of the recent Apple iPhone Mail Photo, this above photo was found having the option to export to keynote, which is one of the 3 Apps in the recent iPad iWork Suite.

If this iWorks is coming, I’m sure it will be selling like hot-cakes as iPhone is the only device we always carry around, quick edit of documents or keynote before we send off as attachment is sweet. [Engadget]

iPhone 4 – Thinnest SmartPhone on Earth

iPhone 4, new design, different from what you have seen for previous 3 generation of iPhone. Now iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick, 24% thinner than iPhone 3GS! iPhone 4 is now the thinnest smartphone out in the market.

iPhone 4 is getting new and better screen, 3.5 inch IPS display, 960X640 pixel(4X more), 326 pixel per inch, 800:1 contract ratio, Share images!

Here’s a comparsion – iPhone 3GS:

iPhone 4 Screen, it is much clearer and sharper!

Now we have seen the better screen, Apple showed us how the internal looks like for iPhone 4, look at the picture and you will realise, they really make everything small! Now the biggest part is the battery, and the battery only. The rest are just mainboard and chips.

Afterall iPhone 4 is mainly battery, thus there is also a improvement in iPhone 4, now we can have 300 hours standby, 3G talk for 7 hours, 3G data browsing for 6 hours, 10 hours of video and 40 hours of music. It is almost as good as iPad, but of course for the size of iPhone, it is really quite hard to match the battery life.

It is quite new to us, iPhone 4 will have gyroscope, now iPhone will have 6 axis motion sensing, better motion sensing now with gyroscope and accelerometer! So more motion sensing games coming to us like what Steve Jobs played.

iPhone 4 is getting better camera! 5Megapixel camera, which 5x digital zoom, tap to focus, LED Flash, backside illuminated sensor, better camera engine. Now we can shoot better photos in low lights, and better picture quality.

I think this is the biggest update for iPhone 4, now we can record 720p HD video 30fps on iPhone 4! It is pretty cool, I think we can use the LED Flash for video recording, thus night shots will be better. Apple is also selling us iMovie for iPhone, where you can edit your iPhone Video on the go, without any Mac/PC, and export to a version that you.

iMovie for iPhone, where you can edit your video shot on iPhone 4, and export it out on the move.

iPhone OS 4 is now renamed to iOS4 due to iPad? But everything else is as reported previously for iPhone OS 4. Nothing special other than Rentia Display Integration.

iBookStore is coming to iPhone, it will wirelessly sync all your books, bookmarks, notes without extra charges.

iAds will be huge for the coming iOS4, integrated with iOS4, developer will be able to place Ads in their Apps, and users will be able to view the ads, without exiting the App!

iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 video chat coming, and it is called FaceTime, which is weird when they have iChat. I’m not sure why they did not use it, but anyway we will be getting iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 video chat but WIFI only!

Zero Setup required for FaceTime, meaning you can just chat straight from the box(but you need to setup your Wifi first), Front and Rear camera can be used! 🙂 That’s sweet.

iPhone Price Updates: iPhone 3GS will be $99, iPhone 4 16GB will be $199, iPhone 4 32 GB will be $299! I think the pricing are quite agressive! They ain’t as expensive as it was when they launch iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS!

June 24 will be the launch date for US, France, Germany, UK and Japan! It is fast, it is only like 2 weeks from now! What is more exciting is that Singapore is going to get iPhone by July! Which is also when we will get iPad, a combo month?

iPhone 4 Launch in Singapore by July! Excited!

Apple will be selling us bunkers for iPhone 4 which will be like a iPhone case that protects the side of iPhone.

Other than all this news, we will also be getting iOS4 by June 21, which will be 3 days before iPhone 4 launch in US, and 4 other countries.

More updates will be coming soon! Stay Tuned at for more news and updates! [Thanks Engadget & Gdgt for Photos]
