iPhone 5 will come with 64 GB

If the above iPhone 5 is the up and coming iPhone 5, then we will be seeing 64GB in iPhone 5! Finally! iPod Touch and iPad has been having 64GB of Storage for quite some time, so finally we will be getting 64GB on iPhone 5.

Do you really need 64GB?

Before my 32GB iPhone 4, I was holding on to a 16GB iPhone 3G, and I though why will I need 32GB? But after having 32GB in our iPhone 4… I feel that I don’t have enough space!! It might be due to the quality of the video and photos iPhone 4 can take. Plus the growing numbers of very well-produced podcast and iTunes U videos!

So if you ask me if you need an 64GB iPhone 5? Ask yourselves if you watch movie or podcast on your iPhone, if you do… 64Gb won’t be a bad choice!

Difference between iPhone 5 and iPhone 4?

By the way, you will realise one difference in the iPhone 5, there are no more silver ring around the back camera lens, but everything else seems to be almost the same from the video.

Check out the below video on the rumored iPhone 5:

Is iPhone 5 getting Aluminum backing?

Is Apple iPhone 5 going to get an Aluminum Backing?

Aluminum Backing for iPhone 5?

This mock up looks like iPhone 3GS with Aluminum backing? So will iPhone’s design go back to iPhone 3GS-like? To be honest, I don’t think so, at least not for iPhone 5. I don’t think Apple will change their design so soon, but who knows? iPad 2 have a changed in design although iPad is only out for 1 year.

Why Apple might not go back to Glass backing like iPhone 4?

  1. Remember our legendary White iPhone 4? Due to the white backing, iPhone 4 have light leaks and flash issue
  2. Glassgate – some iPhone 4 users dropped their phone and cracked the backing as the back of iPhone 4 is not as strong as the screen. Results shows that iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G are more durable than iPhone 4
  3. Unified Looks for all Apple Product – Apple Macbook Pro, iPads and iPod Touch all have aluminum backing or full-body, thus it will be a more unified look for iPhone to have it too?

No one knows for sure what we will be getting for iPhone 5, so let’s wait and see!

iOS 4.2 runs fast on iPhone 3G!

Remember how much complains we have when so many iPhone 3G users upgraded to iOS 4.0? It lags like hell when I upgrade my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.0, and have no choice to downgrade it back! iPhone 3G running iOS 4.0 is almost unusable! Slight improvement when Apple release iOS 4.1, but it seems like iOS 4.2 really fix the issue, and it seems to run very smoothly, of course you can’t compare it to iPhone 4.

But check out the video from TipB below, it seems like iPhone 3G users should really upgrade to iOS 4.2 if you wish to have the power of multi-tasking and folders, but don’t wish your phone to lag like a Windows Mobile Phone.

iPhone 3G not supported in Game Center

Steve Jobs have announced that Game Center is coming to us when iOS 4.1 launch, and we received news that Game Center have already went live as iOS 4.1 is going to launch today. But which iDevice can be used for Game Center? Apple have just confirm on its Game Center overview page that this social network for gaming will be available for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen and 4th Gen.

Supported Devices for iOS 4.1 Game Center

No sight of iPhone 3G, original iPhone or original iPod. Seems like they won’t be support in this new social networking service. Although reviews have shown that iOS 4.1 will improve iPhone 3G’s performance, but seems like iPhone 3G still can’t keep up with Apple’s pace, and is slowly dying off…

Game Center

Game Center will allow you to find friends, add gaming friends, or even find random people to play game either to compete or help out each other in the game. Leaderboards and achievement are one of the few motivation that will push gamers to play on, and improve on their scores.

Guide to downgrade your iPhone 3G/3GS from iOS 4 back to iOS 3.1.3

Many iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users have been complaining that their iPhone gotten sluggish and slow after updating to iOS 4 and above. There are many “un-proven” methods out there to improve the performance like hard-reset and restoring. But the only real way to solve this issue is to restore back to iOS 3.1.3 from iOS 4.

We all know that restoring previous version is a troublesome way, but it will be bringing back your old fast iPhone. So follow the guide below to restore your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS from iOS 4 to iOS 3.1.3

Step 1: Download iOS 3.1.3 and RecBoot

You will need the old iOS 3.1.3 Firmware file to do a restore, you can download iOS 3.1.3 here:

iPhone 3G iOS 3.1.3 or iPhone 3GS iOS 3.1.3

Else you can find the rest of the list here if yours is not the above 2.

You will need to download RecBoot that will help you “come out” from recovery mode when you do the restore on your iPhone

Download RecBoot for Mac here, and Windows here

Step 2: Putting your iPhone into DFU Mode:

In order to do a restore, you need to put your iPhone into DFU Mode, so follow the steps below or watch the YouTube Video and follow the steps.

  1. Plug in your iPhone.
  2. Open up your iTunes
  3. Power it down by holding the sleep/lock button and sliding to power off.
  4. Once it’s powered down, press and hold both the sleep/lock button and the home button for ten seconds.
  5. After ten seconds, release the power button but continue holding down the home button.
  6. If you did it right, iTunes will pop up a window (like the one below) telling you that it’s detected an iPhone in recovery mode and your iPhone’s screen will be black. If it didn’t work, start from the beginning and try again.

Step 3 Actual Restoring Process

Once your got into DFU Mode, your iTunes should prompt your with such a message.

  1. Dismiss the alert prompt by clicking OK, then go to your iPhone under Device sidebar in iTunes.
  2. If you are on Windows, Hold on Shift key and click on restore, if you are on Mac, hold on to Option and click on Restore
  3. iTunes will prompt you to select restore file, select the iOS 3.1.3 file you just downloaded.
  4. The iPhone will start to restore, the whole process will take around 10-15mins.
  5. Once the iPhone finish restoring, you will be prompt this error

Don’t worry! Open up RecBoot file which you just downloaded, click on Exit Recovery Mode and you are done!

You can check out the YouTube Video on the restoring process if you are not sure below:

iOS 4.0.1 is out! With new Reception Formula!

Apple released iOS 4.0.1 to better represent the reception issues. According to Apple’s PR iPhone’s Reception Bar Formula is wrong, thus they are showing more bars of reception than it actually have! With the new update from iOS 4.0.1, you will realize that your reception at home or in office will be much lesser than you had previously(this is what I felt).

Look at the Reception bars, it is really slightly bigger and longer compare to the previous version. I don’t think it helps at all for showing bigger bars, but maybe it is a mental thingy that I don’t understand. But one thing that I realized after the update is that my iPhone 3G felt faster and less laggy after the update! This I can’t confirm yet as I have just updated my iPhone 3G only 2 hours ago, but definitely feel faster!

I will post a update if I can confirm that this update actually makes iPhone 3G running iOS 4 faster.

BMW Supports iOS 4’s New Feature ‘iPod Out’

BMW will be the first car to be supporting the new iOS 4 feature iPod Out, this feature is not known by most people as it is not really the focus during WWDC, but it will be a very important and cool feature for Car-Markers.

iPod Out allows iPhone (4, 3GS, 3G or iPod Touch) to output and display iPod Interface when connected to the vehicle, it can be display through vehicle’s external display and uses the car’s controls. With this you will see your familiar interface from Apple, play the songs from your iPhone’s playlist, music catalog and mixes.
