iOS 5 will send out early earthquake notification to iPhone users in Japan

iOS 5 with Earthquake notification

We geeks love Technology, but nothing beats saving people’s life via Technology. In Future, Japanese iPhone users using iOS 5 will be able to receive early earthquakes notification! This will not only allow them to have more time to prepare for the natural diaster, it can also help warn people nearby. This kind of technologies really warms my heart.

Japan has the most advanced earthquake early-warning system in the world. A nationwide online system launched in 2007, it detects tremors, calculates an earthquake’s epicenter and sends out brief warnings from its 1,000-plus seismographs scattered throughout the country, one of the most earthquake-prone nations on the planet.

Apple helping Japan

I’m totally impressed with what Apple is doing to help Japan who was hammered by natural disasters in recent months. They have not only open Apple Store in Japan during diaster period to help charge iPhone/iPad and Macs, they even offer free water damaged iDevices due to Tsunami. Good Job Apple, keep it up!

Real Racing 2 to support Dual-Screen Gaming with AirPlay!

Stream games from iPad/iPhone to your AppleTV via Wifi on iOS 5

Great news to all gamers! Firemint, the creator of Real Racing 2 will be supporting AirPlay over Wifi with iOS 5. Meaning you will be able to play your game on your iPad, but view the screen on your HDTV, not your iPad/iPhone! What makes it even better is that Real Racing will not just mirror the output from iPad to HDTV, but make full use of the dual screen that you have.  It will be similar to the picture on top, having the racing on your HDTV, but supporting information like maps, laps and timing on your iPad/iPhone screen.

Apple marching into the gaming industry, Strong.

Pretty cool right? I mean it is awesome! It kinda of reminds me of Nintendo’s DS, which have 2 screen showing supporting information. But imagine this on your HDTV and iPad. Actually now, you are already able to play this dual screen game, but you will need to hook up your iPad with HDMI cable to your TV to do it. But when iOS 5 comes, you can stream it via wifi to your Apple TV.

Firemint’s Real Racing 2 HD with AirPlay is a game-changer

Relish Real Racing 2 HD’s superb visuals as they’re streamed effortlessly to your big screen TV. Grip your iPad 2 and steer with unerring precision and the freedom of wireless play. Stay closer than ever to the track with real-time racing telemetry, displayed directly on your iPad’s screen.

Honestly. I think consoles like Sony PS3, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will now have a new challenger in the market. I can’t believe that our multi-functional iPad, which I use to check emails and surf web on the go, can be my console when I reach home!

iCloud – Free, Calendar, Documents, Photo Stream and iTunes for iOS and Macs

iCloud is free

iCloud is free. This is the greatest news I have heard so far in WWDC 2011. Why? Because it is free for both iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and even your Macs. Now we have a fully integrated cloud system running through all our iOS Devices and Macs.

Calendar on iCloud

Calendar will be sync to iCloud, so all your calendar data on your Macs, iPad or iPhone will be sync to the same data, and can be access via any devices.

Now data on your iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch will be backup daily to iCloud, so you won’t need to backup them via any PC/Macs. Data like purchased music, apps, books, camera rolls(photo & video), device settings and app data will be backup to icloud. So if we get a new iPhone, we can just key in our iTunes account ID and password, everything will be sync back to the new iPhone.

Documents on iOS devices and Macs will be able to be stored on iCloud. Not only documents can be stored on iCloud, it will be pushed to all iOS devices on the same account. It works like dropbox.

Photo Stream for all iOS and Macs!

Photo Stream is one of my favorite addition. Now everytime when I take a photo on my iPhone or iPad, it will be automatically uploaded to iCloud, which you can view on any iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch or Macs!

The cool thing is we not only can view, we also can save it down to the devices, like Macs. So we don’t need sync-ing virtually! Which save alot of effort! Pretty sweet. I love it! iCloud will store all photos for 30 days, and for the last 1000 photos. Of course, the copy in your devices will not be deleted.

Music can be downloaded via iTunes on up to 10 devices. So you can purchase 1 song, and redownload it up to 10 devices over the wifi. So you won’t have to sync up to copy the songs over. Pretty neat, although we in Singapore don’t really get to buy music over iTunes.

iTunes Match for iCloud

iTunes Match is a service that will “backup” your iTunes music into iCloud for all the music in your iTunes library. Of course you will think that it will take weeks to upload. No iTunes Match uses a very unique service and software that will scan your library and match all the music Apple already have in their store. They will only upload those songs that are not in their library, so it will only take minutes to upload your whole library! Pretty cool! But it is a paid service at $24.99 per year for iTunes Match.

iMessage – New messaging for iOS

New Messaging system – iMessage

iMessage is a new messaging system that Apple will be adding to iOS 5. Now message will now go through as data, so you can send not only text, photos, video, contacts and even group messages. iMessage will not only be on iPhone, it will also be on iPad and iPod Touch.

This is pretty cool, because we never had any messaging system on iPad or iPod Touch. Now we can actually use iPad as a messaging system, but we ain’t not sure is it tied to email address or iTunes account.

All iOS devices will sync up

But what we know is that all devices like iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch can be sync up with the same message if you tie them to the same account.

New Notification system on iOS 5

New Notification on iOS 5

Yes, finally a new notification system for iPhone and iPad! No longer we will be interrupted by notification when we are playing our games! Apple will be implementing new Notification that will not interrupt your game or apps, but you will still be notify when that’s a new email or sms.

No Interruptions from notification

This is pretty important, as iOS devices are already one of the best gaming devices, but the gaming experience is not as good due to the interrupt we always get when that’s a new message and our game will be interrupted. Now no more.

Locked Screen notification

Locked Screen notification! Yeah! So now you will have a summary list of notification you have gotten on your locked screen, so you won’t need to unlock your phone just to see all those notification! Pretty neat.

Lines at WWDC 2011 [Video]

Guys from 9to5mac filmed the lines at WWDC 2011. Yes at this time, they are queuing over the night for WWDC. I don’t remember seeing queues outside WWDC 2010, so I’m sure developers can’t wait for iOS 5 and Lion to be out!
No confirmation from Apple what will iCloud cover, but I’m sure we see lots of syncing, not just Macs, but iOS devices.

We will be blogging live for WWDC 2011. Stay tuned with us. We also can’t wait for WWDC 2011 to come!

Steve Jobs will be at WWDC annoucing iCloud, iOS 5 and Lion on June 6

Steve Jobs announcing iCloud in WWDC 2011

Apple has just announced that their CEO, Steve Jobs will be taking the stage to talk about their new iCloud Service, iOS 5 and Mac OS Lion. Below is what they have sent to developers:

Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

Pretty packed WWDC 2011 for Apple. But why did Apple announce to the whole world about iCloud just a few days away from WWDC? Apple is always secretive and like to give us surprises. So are we going to get even more surprises from Apple?

Predication for Apple’s WWDC 2011

iCloud will be Apple’s newest cloud service, which might comprise of iTunes Cloud Streaming, iDisk(or a possible rename?), Cloud App Syncing, Monthly iTunes music Subscription. Apple has been building this massive Datacenter, which will most likely be supporting iCloud. So with such a huge cloud datacenter, it will not just be iTunes, I have a feeling it will be much more.

  • Monthly Music Subscription – Users will be able to pay a monthly fee and have music as all-you-can-listen package
  • iTunes Cloud Streaming – Users’ existing music will be automatically upload to the iTunes Cloud
  • iDisk fully integrated in Mac and iOS 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. So files can just be transfer via iCloud without going through 3rd party apps
  • App syncing – All Apps that users purchase will be stored in the cloud, but not only that. All the save games data, information will be stored in cloud thus be able to sync up throughout all the devices sign in with the same account

Above are just some prediction, and hopefully we get even more surprises from Apple! Stay Tuned and we will be reporting about WWDC 2011.

64gb White iPhone 4 Leaked! iOS 5, Expose and Facebook Integration! [Video]

64Gb White iPhone 4’s videos are leaked once again from Vietnam! What’s interesting is that it is not just iPhone 4 in white, but it is actually running on a prototype iOS 5.

So what is new in iOS 5?

  • New Task switching screen which look very similar to Mac’s Expose
  • New Folder UI, when you create folder, it is now full screen(Which I don’t really like)
  • Spotlight search in the tasking switching expose screen
  • Facebook Integration, if you look closely at the 2nd video, there is a Facebook setting.

Check out the leaked videos:
