I don’t know about you guys, but I personally hate business cards. Why? Because I can never seem to find them when I need them and typing in email address and phone number to my phone is always a task that I hate. If you guys hate carrying business name cards that your clients have given you, then you will need WorldCard Mobile

Very accurate and quick

I have given it a try and I found it surprisingly  accurate! I have tested on 2 business name cards that I have got from my clients (I worked as a Business Intelligence Consultant as my day job) and both of the cards are recognized and stored into my contacts with no errors.

It is pretty easy to use, just open up the app, tap on camera button, take a picture of the name card and let it recognize the text on the card. WorldCard Mobile for iPhone is pretty smart, it will recognize name, emails, phone numbers, address, company and department with no issue. Very very useful for lazy people like me who always don’t key in the full information and regret later on.

If you are worried that the app’s recognition  might not be prefect (I agree that nothing is perfect), WorldCard Mobile have a Card holder area in the app, where all the Name Cards that you have scanned will be kept there, with the picture taken. Thus even if the recognition software might have mistake, you will at least still have the picture of the name card available.

I love this app, to be able to snap a photo of the name card, and let the app the do rest, is awesome for me. The app is pretty accurate and make little mistake. Thus I will highly recommend this app for all who always get name cards during meetings but always misplace them. If you have tons of name cards, you will be able to enter all of them into this app in no time.

The only factor I dislike about this app is the price. It is $6.99, slightly steep from my point of view, but overall a very useful app even for this price point.

Translate your speech instantly with Vocre

Vocre, an new iOS app, can instantly translate whatever you just said to your iPhone/iPad into another language. Pretty cool right? Using Nuance technology, Vocre will be able to translate your speech but needs data connectivity.

This apps should be very useful, when you are overseas in country which you don’t speak. This will not only allow you to understand what foreigners are speaking to you, conversation can flow via this app. But of cause the down side is the need of data network, which will most likely cost a bomb.

Adobe Carousel

Adobe is unveiled an very cool iPad App – Carousel, almost like a Lightroom App for iPad. After watching their video, I can only say it is really very cool. Who knows it might replace Photo App in iPad?

So, we will be able access our photo library from our Mac/PC from any iOS devices, including iPad and iPhone. There will be no need for us to do syncing or transfer photo manually, everything will be automatic and wirelessly. Sounds pretty cool right? It seems to be having some Lightroom features like filters, quick edit of photo like exposure, brightness and contracts.

Free download, but storage cost?

Carousel will be a free download from App Store and Mac App Store, but I think we got to pay for the “online cloud storage”. Let’s wait for more details once the App is launch. Although, asking me to pay for another cloud service is a bumper. How many cloud storage service should we have?!

Apple promoted Eddy to the “i-Man”

Tim Cook have just promoted Eddy Cue to Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services. Eddy Cue is no newbie, he is the key man for iTunes, App Store and iBookstore. These few products are very successful and I feel is the key to the success of iPhone and iPad.

So what’s new for him as SVP of Internet Software and Service? iCloud and iAds. Both of the 2 services are fairly new, and haven’t really taken off. I’m sure this 2 services are also the key services that Apple will be focusing on for the next few years.

Play games on Apple TV via iPad with iPhone controller

Joypad is very interesting app, with this app, you will be able to play iPad games on your TV via AppleTV and use your iPhone as controller! In other words, it will treat your iPad as a “console” and stream the game from iPad to AppleTV and uses your iPhone as controller.

Very cool right? It uses their special SDK and is able to stream gameplay to AppleTV via Airplay. iPhone is connected to iPad via Bluetooth, thus you will be able to as controller. But the amount of games support this SDK is quite limited. You can see the list of supported games here.

Remember AR Drone? I’m sure lots of people really wish that can afford one. Having a price tag of US$300, people reconsider and reconsider. It is sure too high a price tag for impulse buy, but how about $60?

I’m not too sure why is it called back to school promotion, as we all know parents hate their kids to play games, and worse if schools are back! iPad Head Girl on New York Street

What will be your reaction when you see an iPad head girl walking down the street? I would be surprised like the guys in the video. Of course, this is Cosmo for guy’s publicity, as they launch their new iPad App. You will realize it at the end of the video, where a guy sat infront of the lady and browsed the magazine app on her face.

What is cool is that the girl is actually holding a camera inside her purse, which live feed to a pair of video glasses that she was wearing, enabling her to walk without issue. Else I’m sure she will be banging to lamp posts or trees. Pretty neat idea. Do check out the video.

The Straits Times, Singapore’s 166 years old Newspaper company have finally launch their new newspaper app for iPad. You can say that Straits Times is abit late in the iPad game, as they only release their iPad App today. But after using the app for a day or so, man it is pretty sweet and neat.

For a first version app, it only crashed on me once, but is smooth like a butter for rest of the time. You will be able to download The Straits Times for iPad App now for Free, and enjoy free content from now till 7th September 2011.

One of the most important App that is still missing on iPad till today is Facebook App. Currently, we can only get Facebook for iPhone/iPod Touch, but there is no native app for iPad. Although u can say that you will still have a very nice browsing experience on mobile Safari on iPad, but nothing can beat the customization and viewing experience on an native App.

Facebook for iPad is finally coming to App Store soon?

MG Siegler from TechCrunch actually found out that Facebook for iPad might be launch very soon, but I kid you not, an executable Facebook for iPad is already on your Facebook App for iPhone! So if that’s the case, then it might be a universe app for Facebook.

Overall the view of the App seems very clean and cool, I already love the UI of the App even before using. Let’s hope that we won’t have to wait too long for it to be launch, I’m kind of tired of using 3rd party apps which don’t really run as good as the one that I got on my iPhone.
