JailBreak iOS 4.0 for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G with RedSn0w 0.9.5b5-3

RedSn0w has been updated with the release of iOS 4, now you can jail break your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch with RedSn0w 0.9.5b5-3! It is available for both Mac and Windows, and it not only jailbreak your iPhone/iPod Touch, it can also enable Multi-Tasking and Background change features (which is disabled by Apple)

Here the guide on the RedSn0w 0.9.5b5-3 Jailbreak for iOS 4.0:

1. Download iOS 4 for your version of iPhone or iPod Touch, Link are here.

2. Update your iPhone/iPod Touch to the iOS 4, Go to ‘iTunes‘, then to ‘Device’, and restore your iPhone with the iOS 4 you have just downloaded.

3. As you are restoring your iPhone/iPod, Download RedSn0w 0.9.5b5-3 (Mac / Windows).

4. After you are done with the restoring and downloads of RedSn0w, Start up ‘RedSn0w‘.

5. Click on ‘Browse’ and Select the ipsw files that you have just downloaded here, and Click on ‘Next‘ Button.

6. Wait for the IPSW to finish processing, and Click ‘Next

7. Here is the important Section, There is a few options for you to select before you continue:

Install Cydia is a must check, as that will enable you to download jailbroke apps and settings. Multi-Tasking will enable you to have multi-tasking just like users who have iPhone 3GS, BUT please take note that enabling Multi-Tasking will SLOW DOWN your iPhone 3G by quite abit.

I, Myself have tried it, it is slow… so if you still wish to have multi-tasking, please check on it.

8. Once you are done with the selection Click ‘Next

9. When you reach this screen, Switch Off your iPhone/iPod now and PLUG in your device to your computer before you click ‘NEXT

10. Follow the RedSn0w’s Screen for instructions for entering your iPhone into DFU mode.

11. After you are done, you can take a rest now. Wait for RedSn0w to do the rest of the work, once done click on ‘Finish‘ and your iPhone/iPod will restart.

12. After your iPhone/iPod reboot, you will realise your Cydia icon is a blank white icon, don’t worry, click on the Cydia icon and go to ‘Manage‘ Tab then go to ‘Source‘ panel

13. Add a new Source – repo. After you are done, reboot your iPhone and you will be able to see the usual Cydia icon.

Select Mac OS X Dialog using keyboard

Do you wish to select your options that was pop up to you in your Mac? This is something you can do with ease as a Windows user, but as a Mac switcher or a Mac user, it is not a easy task.

Just follow the steps below, and you can select options just like in Windows:

1. Go to Settings

2. Select Keyboard -> Click on the Keyboard Shortcut Tab

3. Select All Controls for Full Keyboard Access

4. Next time when Dialog box appears -> Press on TAB -> You will see a blue box around the option after you tab

5. After you have selected the option you wish to select, Press on SPACE to select the option, and you are done!

Hope this 5 steps will help you next time when a dialog box appear in your life, and you will be able to select on the option without mouse nor trackpad!

Jailbreak Guide for iPhone 3.1.3 Using Spirit for Mac & Windows

Finally Untethered Jailbreak is here, we have been waiting for quite a while, after Apple released iPhone OS 3.1.3, Untethered Jailbreak were no where to be seen. Spirit finally did it!

Spirit released Untether Jailbreak for 3.1.3 for both Mac and Windows, not only that the jailbreak process is extremely fast and easy. Check out the guide below, you won’t get wrong.

First and most important thing you need to know is that Spirit is NOT a unlocking tool, Spirit will just jailbreak your iPhone and with Cydia installed after the whole process.

Things you need before you start:

  • iTunes 9.0 and above
  • Your iPhone should be on iPhone OS 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.
  • Your iPhone should be already activated, not be at emergency screen or connect to iTunes Screen. ( Meaning a working iPhone which you can already make phone calls and stuff)

Steps to Jailbreak Using Spirit:

1. Before you start anything, it is a good practice to backup/sync your iPhone with iTunes to ensure you have backup your Phone.

2. Download Spirit Jailbreak tool here (Mac / Windows)

3. Plug in your iPhone via USB (if you already plug it in during your backup or sync, you can just leave it there)

4.. Double Click on the Spirit icon to launch the Application

5. After the Spirit Application is launch, regardless on Mac or Windows, you will see a screen like this

6. Wait no longer, Click on the Jailbreak button and next screen will be seen

7. Its done! After you have seen the screen above, Jailbreak is completed, you need to wait for the phone to reboot and cydia will be there in your iPhone.

6 icons rather than 4 on iPad’s bottom dock!

By default, iPad’s bottom dock only holds 4 icons, which is the same as iPhone, but iPad have so much a larger screen. Worry no more! You can actually put 6 not 4 icons on the iPad’s dock!

Now it actually looks better as there are really too much empty space if your dock only holds 4. With more icons, also means you can get to the App you want faster and easier!

By clicking on and holding the on any icons (like what you do normally for iPhone or iPod Touch), the apps can be rearrange. Just drag 2 more icons into the bottom dock and they will stay there!
