Steve Jobs’ Biography to be release on 21 November 2011!

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs is finally going to release his first official Biography ever! According to Barnes and Noble have already put up ‘Steve Jobs’ for pre-release and will be available on November 21 2011. Not sure why did they brought this forward from the original release date at March 6 2012.

This Book is written by Walter Isaacson and have written it based on over 40 interviews with Steve Jobs and his family and friends. I’m sure this book will be a very interesting read, and I can’t wait for it to be release.

Full Description of Steve Jobs:

Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues this book chronicles the rollercoaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

It is also a book about innovation. At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, and when societies around the world are trying to build digital-age economies, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the 21st century was to connect creativity with technology, so he built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off limits and instead encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly even foes, former girlfriends, and colleagues he had once fired or infuriated. “I’ve done a lot of things I’m not proud of, such as getting my girlfriend pregnant when I was 23 and the way I handled that,” he said. “But I don’t have any skeletons in my closet that can’t be allowed out.”

Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. Likewise, his friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

He was not a model boss or human being, tidily packaged for emulation. Driven by demons, he could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is thus both instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.

iPhone the Number 1 Smartphone for 3 years, more to come?

iPhone, the most popular smartphone

Most popular smartphone for the past 3 years? If this question is asked, I’m sure most will answer iPhone. Yes, iPhone have been the most popular smartphone since 2009, and still remains as the most popular. Since a few years ago, iPhone slowly grew from a small market share, to now almost all my friends are using one.

Millennial Media, did a report and ranked all smartphone by impression. Only iPhone and Blackberry Curve stayed in the chart for 12 months. So I’m pretty sure in 2-3 years down the road, iPhone will still be in this chart.

Apple’s Advantages

But how did Apple achieved this? From my point of view, Apple have a very strong advantage of having control of both Hardware and Software of the iPhone. Not only software works well, it works very well with the phone. Android, one of iPhone’s strongest competitor now, is not having this benefit. Thus sparks off Google’s recent purchase of Motorola Mobility. Now Google’s Android will have some control over their hardware and all of their software. This will put Android in a stronger position.

So will we see both iPhone and Android Phone on the chart in the next 3 years? Let’s Stay tuned.

Cool iPad Animations [Video]

This is a pretty cool iPad animation. I have never thought that just a piece of plastic sheet and some printing on it, we will be able to get such a cool animation on iPad.

Check out the video below to see what I’m amazed by:

Flying Macbook Air – Lighter than Air [Video]

Many users of Apple’s new Macbook Air are amazed by how light and powerful it is. Having such a portable but powerful laptop is such a dream for everyone. But do you know that Apple’s Macbook Air is actually built for flight? It is so light that it actually wants to fly off.

Don’t believe? Check out the video below:

Apple is now buying back old Macs, iPhone and iPad

Green Apple

Apple is one of the greenest tech companies in the world, they are always pushing their product to be as green as possible. Not just making green products, Apple tries to minmum the CO by reduce weight of shipping weight and reducing carbon footprint. They tries to encourage recycling by recycling all Apple products for free.

Reuse and Recycle

But today Apple pushed recycling to the new limit and launches Reuse and Recycle program. Yes, Apple will buy back workable old Apple or non-Apple product back. They will provide free shipping and free packaging for your old Notebook, Desktop, iPad and iPhone! This is a pretty nice service, although you might be able to get better resale price on ebay or other auction sites, but it can not be easier to sell your products back to Apple.

One important note is that all value of your product will be translated to an Apple Gift Card of the same value. Since it is Apple Gift Card, you will be only able to use in Apple Store or buy Apps/music in Apple’s App Store or iTunes.

So if you have any old Apple products or PC, check out Apple’s Reuse and Recycle Program.

$999 iMac 2011 for Education

New iMac for Education

Apple is always supporting Educations by giving discounts to students and teachers. Today Apple launches the new $999 iMac 2011 for education market. This will be a great asset to school as iMac will be the best computer you can get in school’s Computer Lab.

Below are the stats of the new iMac for Education:

  • 21.5 inch Display
  • 3.1GHz Intel Core i3
  • AMD Radeon HD 6750 GPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 250GB Hard disk
  • Super Drive for Optical
  • Lion OS

It is a pretty neat iMac, having enough horsepower and good amount of screen for work. But I’m pretty surprised why Thunderbolt and just 2GB of RAM. I’m quite sure running virtualization to run Windows should be useful, as some software that school use might still be Windows only.

Nevertheless, hope this Mac will help School purchase more affordable Computers and benefit the students.

Batman’s Bat Car uses iPad as central dashboard! [Video]

This is pretty cool, real life Batman’s turbine powered Batmobile. Casey Putsch have built a real Bat Car and it is powered by just Turbine, which is supposedly how Batman in Comic powered his car. Suprisely, the central dashboard and GPS is actually Apple’s iPad. It will be cool if Batman really uses just iPad for his Batmobile

Check out this cool car in the video below:

EA Back to School Sales for iOS Games

Yes, Back to School Sales from EA.

I’m not too sure why is it called back to school promotion, as we all know parents hate their kids to play games, and worse if schools are back! Of course, EA is putting up sales because they don’t want kids to be overstressed due to school reopen. A little sale can be good, as you can let your kids play abit of games, while studying hard.

Remember, All work no Play will bring you no where! So, check out EA’s Back to School Sales here. iPad and iPhone Games are discounted up to 80%, a pretty good deal.

iWork on iCloud, able to download as varies format and edit on iWork or Office [Video]

iWork on iCloud

If you have read our previous on iCloud now on Beta, you would have know that Apple have launch iCloud into its beta state. All developers are now able to try out iCloud.com, not just with iCloud.com’s Web Apps, but also from iOS 5.

This is huge, as now iOS devices, Macs and Web are almost integrated tightly. This is not Apple’s first implementation of it. Previously they had came out with MobileMe. Of course, wasn’t too successful, but with iPhone and iPad’s popularity, the demand for cloud syncing are growing too. Thus I feel that Apple have put in a lot of effort in making this cloud storage and sync as useful and as fast as possible.

Sync-ing from iOS iWork to iCloud is pretty fast!

Video below shows that iWork documents are sync into iCloud in just seconds after creation, and it is constantly pulling the changes up into the cloud. So you virtually don’t need to save and will have a copy of your document pulled from iPhone/iPad to iCloud. This is pretty neat.

I can imagine a use case like I was working on my document on my Macbook Pro, but I need to rush off to work. I don’t need to save a copy of the document and send it to my email, so I can download it from my iPad. I can just access iWork app on my iPad and will have exact same copy of the document while I’m commuting to work.

Check out the video below for a demo of iWork on iCloud:
