I’m not sure about how you guys think about how Mac OS Snow Leopard handles external monitor, but I feel they can really improve it. Mac OS Lion handles external monitor way cooler.
On Mac OS Lion, external monitor won’t go to sleep, if you close your Macbook’s lid, it will automatically switch the primary monitor to your external monitor, which is much cooler.

I doubt there will be any fix for that. Maybe someone will write a script to return the behavior back to Snow Leopard style

To change back to Lion Default settings, you can type sudo nvram -d boot-args
