Finally Untethered Jailbreak is here, we have been waiting for quite a while, after Apple released iPhone OS 3.1.3, Untethered Jailbreak were no where to be seen. Spirit finally did it!

Spirit released Untether Jailbreak for 3.1.3 for both Mac and Windows, not only that the jailbreak process is extremely fast and easy. Check out the guide below, you won’t get wrong.

First and most important thing you need to know is that Spirit is NOT a unlocking tool, Spirit will just jailbreak your iPhone and with Cydia installed after the whole process.

Things you need before you start:

  • iTunes 9.0 and above
  • Your iPhone should be on iPhone OS 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.
  • Your iPhone should be already activated, not be at emergency screen or connect to iTunes Screen. ( Meaning a working iPhone which you can already make phone calls and stuff)

Steps to Jailbreak Using Spirit:

1. Before you start anything, it is a good practice to backup/sync your iPhone with iTunes to ensure you have backup your Phone.

2. Download Spirit Jailbreak tool here (Mac / Windows)

3. Plug in your iPhone via USB (if you already plug it in during your backup or sync, you can just leave it there)

4.. Double Click on the Spirit icon to launch the Application

5. After the Spirit Application is launch, regardless on Mac or Windows, you will see a screen like this

6. Wait no longer, Click on the Jailbreak button and next screen will be seen

7. Its done! After you have seen the screen above, Jailbreak is completed, you need to wait for the phone to reboot and cydia will be there in your iPhone.

Please note that Jailbreaking may void your warrenty, and the above guide was only tested on my iPhone. Please jailbreak at your own risk. Thanks!

Please share your experience jailbreaking with Spirit, do leave us a comment. Thanks!

Apple $999 Macbook Refresh leaked in Vietnam

Apple’s $999 Macbook Refresh coming soon? A leaked video was recorded in Vietnam, showing us a CPU bump and graphics update.

It is identified as Macbook 7.1 which includes a faster 2.4GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, and the new NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics with 256MB DDR3. There wasn’t much a update unlike what we have seen for Macbook Pro with I5 and i7 cores, but this is normally the update you will see for the entry level Macbook.

iPad is killing Netbooks and iPods

After the launch of iPads, Netbooks aren’t selling like hotcakes anymore. Although many said iPad is not a netbook or laptop replacement, but results prove otherwise.

Look at the trend of the Netbooks, it dropped sharply and maintain the dropping trend after the announcement of iPad. We can see that iPad is actually eating into Netbook’s business, and it is being affected quite strongly. But Netbooks is not the only product line that is suffering, iPods, ebooks readers and handheld video game player also seen an drop in sales.

iPads is really selling strong, 1 million iPad sold within 28 days is a pretty good sales figure. It’s sales figure is only in US as iPad is not launch internationally yet. I’m pretty sure the sales will shoot up when iPad launch internationally, let’s wait and see.

Cupidtino – A dating site for Apple fan boys and girls

A dating site created just for Apple fan boys and girls to meet up and date? Sounds weird, but it is quite creative.

It is just like a hobby site, where boys and girls actually can meet up to discuss or share about their interests in Apple’s product. Cupidtino is preparing to launch anytime soon and they are recruiting.

Cupidtino is a beautiful new dating site created for fans of Apple products by fans of Apple products! Why? Diehard Mac & Apple fans often have a lot in common – personalities, creative professions, a similar sense of style and aesthetics, and of course a love for technology. We believe these are enough reasons for two people to meet and fall in love, and so we created the first Mac-inspired dating site to help you find other Machearts around you.

Cupidtino will launch in June 2010 exclusively on Apple platforms – including sweet location-based social apps for the iPhone and iPad.

Sounds weird and cool right? Let’s wait and see if this site will be a successfully dating site. Note that it will be launching around June 2010.

Opera kind of agree with Jobs on Flash issues

After all the big stories on Steve Jobs and Microsoft on Flash, and how it will not be the future of web, Opera Product Analyst Phillip Grønvold agrees too.

Opera’s Product Analyst Phillip Grønvold spoke to TechRadar, Flash is the essential to the current web, but it won’t be the future of the web.

He said:

Today’s internet content is dependant on Flash. If you remove Flash you do not have today’s internet. But at Opera we say that the future of the web is open web standards and Flash is not an open web standards technology…

But flash as a video container makes very little sense for CPU, WiFi battery usage etcetera – you can cook an egg on [devices] once you start running Flash on them and there’s a reason for that…

For some reason it’s not part of the fabric of the web currently and Flash either needs to include itself in the future of the web and open web standards or its technology is going to be consistently under attack from all sides as the open web standard movement grows further and further.

I kind of agree with Phillips that, yes Flash is the used almost in every part of the web now, but after the launch of iPad, we slowly see everyone converting to HTML5. I would say more and more website will be converting, and HTML5 is really the way to go.

Apple spent $249 million last year on Advertisement

Apple always has been good in their  commercials, leaving strong impressions in viewers and making them want to buy their products.

It is reported that they spent $249 million last year, but it is less than half of what Microsoft spent.

It seems like Apple is a big spender in advertising, either on TV, printed, online or radio. But look at how much Microsoft spent, almost double of what Apple actually spent. To my opionion, I think Apple’s commercials are more effective, and left a better impression on viewers.

iPhone OS 4 betas new Spelling Features

Developers reported that iPhone 4.0 beta brings new spellcheck and suggested word replacement features from iPad to iPhone.

This new features are already in iPhone OS 3.2 used by iPad, but with iPhone OS 4.0 coming this summer, this new features will be across all Apple Devices including iPhone and iPod Touches.

The spelling system extends the mechanism Apple created for copy and paste operations, enabling users to touch a misspelled word to select it, and then touch “Replace…” as an alternative to cut or copy operations.

iPhone OS 4.0 also will bring in Bluetooth keyboard support, thus typing in iPhone will be much easier! For more information on all the features for iPhone OS 4.0 check it out here!
